JOB DESCRIPTION
- This position is responsible for managing the engineering aspects of Linux server deployment lifecycle including research, deployment, and maintenance, which supports critical business functions for customers. May interact with senior customer leadership on subject matter level expertise in Linux server and open source technologies. May be responsible for the technical direction, leadership and mentoring of less experienced staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides architectural support and high level analysis for Linux systems and open source tehcnologies. Researches emerging technologies and makes recommendations based on business needs.
- Install, configure and maintain Linux servers and application components in multi-tiered environments. Designs solutions to maximize performance of applications and resources.
- Support implementation of approved changes to system configuration and software. Implement measures for proactive monitoring and clustering capabilities to limit IT infrastructure downtime.
- Provides technical support to investigate and resolve problems and performance issues, available to respond 24/7/365 as needed to meet customer SLAs.
- Conduct analysis, prepare reports, and works on project implementation. Maintains documentation such as operating manuals, Method of Procedure, and Root Cause Analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience providing technical proficiency of Linux system administration.
- Experience performing enterprise level project implementation and support with deep knowledge of Linux operating system, virtualization and cloud technologies, server clustering and networking standards.
- Ability to drive efficient resolution of incidents through analytical and structured approaches to problem solving.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL
- Must have strong exposure to Debian/RHEL/SUSE.
- Significant experience with some of the following technologies: Linux clustering, Database clustering and replication, Application Servers, Single sign-on, RHEV, OpenStack, Zimbra.
- Knowledge in IT service management best practices such as change, problem, incident and configuration management.
